According to consumer group Choice, the Australian gift card industry is big business, with over $2.5 billion dollars worth of cards purchased a year. Of those sales, Choice estimates that up to 30% of gift cards and vouchers expire before they can be used.
Brisbane entrepreneur Tim Kelly has designed an app to ensure expired gift cards become a thing of the past. The app, Use It Don’t Lose It, reminds consumers to use their gift cards before the nominated expiry date and includes a prompt as to where the consumer has stored their card.
