The Australian Association of Convenience Stores (AACS) Peter Jowett Convenience Retail Award is now open for registrations.
The award is an opportunity for future leaders, under the age of 36, within the AACS membership to challenge others on thinking about the opportunities in the industry.
This year’s topic is: “You are the CEO of a leading Convenience Channel retailer or Supplier in Australia. Your number one priority is to future proof your business. Take us on the journey of how you will win customers hearts, spend, and loyalty, outlining your key differentiation strategies that will set you apart from your competition”.
Theo Foukkare, CEO of the AACS, said Peter Jowett was a visionary leader and titan of the industry who had an unrivalled passion for convenience retailing.
“For those of us that knew him, his infectious personality and big ideas simply made you fall in love with everything about the convenience channel. This is what underpins the Peter Jowett Convenience Award – big ideas, a vision to create a different retailing future, and showcasing it to the world!”
Foukkare said the Peter Jowett Award is designed to discover, unwrap, and showcase our future business leaders.
“A lot of our members run internal competitions to identify who to put forward for the Award, and we encourage this more broadly as it is a fantastic avenue to increase industry engagement, networking, and develop your skills.
“We have had a very challenging couple of years, so I can’t wait to hear about the ideas to future proof your business!”
Applicants are invited to submit a written paper of no more than 4000 words or a PowerPoint presentation of 10 slides on the topic, along with a single page biography.
The submissions deadline is 4 March, with winners to be presented at the Connect 22 Summit on 24 March 2022.
