7-Eleven has acknowledged the contributions of its stores and individuals at the recent Australian Association of Convenience Stores (AACS) gala dinner and awards.
The winners included: 7-Eleven Hallam, 7-Eleven Head of Brand – Lisa Birch, 7-Eleven Store Manager – Melanie Stocker and 7-Eleven Marketing Business Improvement Manager Carlos Mahecha.
According to 7-Eleven CEO, Angus McKay, the business was proud to nominate a number of individuals and stores and was delighted to see some of them win on the night.
“Across our 700 stores nationwide, it’s our people who make our stores such a great experience for our customers. Whether that be in our store teams or our support office, they are what makes our business extraordinary. I’m delighted to have some of our brilliant team members recognised as the best in their industry by AACS,” Mr McKay said.
In the AACS Store of the Year awards, Hemant Mittal and his team at 7-Eleven Hallam collected the award in the franchised store category.
“This award involved a number of mystery shopper surveys as part of the judging process, so to win against the best convenience stores in the country is a remarkable effort by the store team,” Mr McKay said.
In the AACS Women in Convenience section Lisa Birch was recognised as the Woman of the Year, and Melanie Stocker as Store Operator of the Year.
Currently Head of 7-Eleven Brand, Ms Birch is responsible for the overall brand proposition and its execution across the business both internally and externally.
“One of Lisa’s greatest achievements has been her relentless commitment to 7-Eleven’s sustainability journey. This journey has seen her play a crucial role in developing 7-Eleven’s partnership with Closed Loop, primarily the Simply Cups project. Lisa’s career achievements are impressive, contributing to both sustainability solutions and fresh food reputation for 7-Eleven and the industry more broadly,” Mr McKay said.
Melanie Stocker is a multisite store manager based in Victoria, overseeing some of the busiest corporate stores in the state.
“Melanie is a talented and driven leader, as shown through her amazing career progression since joining us as a store team member in 2016. She continues to take on new challenges with great outcomes, coaching teams to deliver the highest of standards and service in her stores. Melanie also leads by example in making a contribution to the local community,” he said.
Carlos Mahecha represented 7-Eleven in the Peter Jowett industry award, coming in first against some excellent presentations from the other finalists.
“Carlos did a wonderful job, I’d like to congratulate him on an outstanding presentation. Carlos demonstrated not only his talent but also his potential,” Mr McKay said.
Mr McKay said that the company’s winners, finalists and nominees had done the business proud.
“For all our winners, finalists, and nominees, this recognition from the wider 7-Eleven team and from our industry more broadly is testament to your ongoing efforts to live our values and deliver the extraordinary in all you do every day. Congratulations and well done to you all,” Mr McKay concluded.
