In response to C&I enquiries, Aldi Australia has confirmed reports regarding plans for expansion in WA and provided C&I with artist’s impressions of their planned WA distribuition centre.
According to an Aldi Australia spokesperson, “Aldi Australia is excited to bring our Smarter Shopping experience to Western Australia.
“Aldi’s Western Australian stores are in various stages of planning. We are confident in Aldi’s long term potential in the state and are looking forward to providing the community with a new shopping option.
“At this stage, Aldi plans to open up to 70 stores across Western Australia. We expect Aldi’s arrival to have a positive impact on the community, offering Smarter Shopping with high quality products at permanently low prices, as well as rewarding career opportunities for local residents”.
As reported in last week’s C&I, confirmed locations include Cannington, Southern River, Halls Head, Kwinana, Rockingham, Australind, South Lake, Joondalup, Camillo, Midland, Mundaring, Ellenbrook and Mandurah, with some stores expected to open by mid-2016.
Plans for a distribution centre to be located at Jandakot Airport in WA are well underway with Western Australian construction company Georgiou Group appointed to build the 45,000 to 50,000 square metre facility shown here.
