7-Eleven has appointed three new non-executive directors to its board, three months after establishing its in-house wage repayment unit as part of its ‘Strategic Reform Program’.
The new appointees are Sandra Birkensleigh as non-executive director and chair of the audit and risk committee; Elizabeth Gaines as non-executive director and chair of the retail operations committee; and Dharmendra Chandran as non-executive director, chair of the people committee.
7-Eleven chairman, Mr Michael Smith, said: “Sandra, Elizabeth and Dharmendra come to 7-Eleven with diverse and highly relevant skillsets, particularly in leading edge corporate governance, finance, strategy, executive leadership and cross cultural engagement.
“Each of our new appointees will bring valuable perspectives to the board’s deliberations, and help ensure 7-Eleven continues to grow while upholding our values and the highest standards in the industry,” Mr Smith said.
In June the convenience chain announced it approved 21 claims, totalling $686,000, in its first round of payments under the company’s Wage Repayment Program following the closure of the Fels Wage Fairness Panel in May, established after a Four Corner’s investigation uncovered systemic wage fraud.
