Sydney-based non-dairy milk producer Inside Out is turning its attention to the petrol and convenience channel, with its range of non-dairy ready to drink (RTD) flavoured almond milk and cold brewed ice teas.
Started in 2013 by Anthony Tuong, Vuong Nguyen and Ed Arthy, selling juices at farmers markets in Sydney, Inside Out’s product range today include non-dairy milk RTDs and THBs such as almond milk, coconut water and milk, flavoured almond milk drinks and cold brew organic teas. All of Inside Out’s products are 100 per cent natural with no added sugar, non-GMO and are gluten-free and dairy-free.
Inside Out’s products are currently stocked in boutique cafes and independent gourmet grocers including Harris Farm Markets and Costco stores. The company is yet to launch in P&C – which it believes has the potential to be a big market for the brand.
According to the Australasian Association of Convenience Stores (AACS) State of the Industry (SOI) report, the RTD and THB beverage market in P&C is worth around $1.84 billion. While RTD growth declined by 0.5 per cent in 2015, THBs continuing to gain in the channel, increasing 9.7 per cent last year.
“We have the offering to have a strong position in the P&C channel,” Anthony Tuong, co-founder of Inside Out, told C&I Week.
Future plans
“We don’t want to be to just be a grocery and food service player, we want to be more that than. It’s disappointing that we’re not in P&C yet because it is such a large segment of the food and beverage market and has the potential to be a big market for us.”
The company is currently looking to develop a coconut and almond blend as well as line of cashew milk-based products. Protein drinks are also on the cards for the beverage brand, with it expecting to launch of RTD protein drinks next year. Inside Out is also trialing a cold pressed juices range under new brand, Button Cold Pressed Juices.
“We’re planning to extend our product line pretty aggressively because we want to firmly establish ourselves as the premier fresh non-dairy milk producer in Australia.”
Inside Out’s products including its new Button Cold Pressed Juices range will be on show at the C&I Expo on Wednesday, August 17 and Thursday, August 18. To register to attend, click here.
