Woolworths has announced it will no longer sell milk for $1 per litre.
The supermarket chain reported it will instead be raising prices to support struggling dairy farmers.
The price increase will be 10 cents per litre, so in place of the $2 for two litres and $3 for three litres, Woolworths will charge $2.20 for two litres and $3.30 for three litres.
Woolworths had upped its prices in September, in an effort to support farmers struggling in the drought.
The QLD Dairyfarmers Organisation said: ” Today is a day filled with joy for the Australian dairy industry,” TenDaily reported.
“This is a war that has crippled the dairy industry for over eight years,” they said.
Both Coles and Aldi have reportedly refused to increase their prices.
Woolworths noted that every cent from the price increase would go to the struggling farmers.
