Following a sell-out success at KitKat Chocolatory in Melbourne last May, KitKat is marking Ruby chocolate’s first birthday with the launch of limited edition KitKat Ruby.
The world’s only new chocolate variety to be discovered in 80 years, KitKat Ruby will finally be available to chocolate lovers across Australia. Ruby chocolate is the fourth type of chocolate, after milk, dark and white, and has created a frenzy in 26 countries around the globe.
The all new KitKat Ruby features a distinctive, all-natural pink hue, an intense berry flavour, and a luscious smooth texture, combined with iconic crisp KitKat wafer fingers. Made using rare Ruby cocoa beans – found only in a few locations including Côte d’Ivoir, Ecuador and Brazil – the unique colour and flavour are naturally occurring, and like nothing else on supermarket shelves.
Head Chocolatier at KitKat Chocolatory, Connie Yuen, said: “Ruby chocolate was an instant hit at KitKat Chocolatory last year, with KitKat Ruby Sublime selling out in just 10 days!
“KitKat has been inundated with requests from consumers across the country since Ruby chocolate was introduced. We’re delighted to be giving more people the chance to try it, with the launch of limited edition KitKat Ruby, timed perfectly to celebrate Ruby chocolate’s first birthday in Australia!” added Yuen.
Nestlé Head of Marketing Confectionery, Anna Stewart, commented: “Ruby has been the biggest news in chocolate innovation in the last 80 years. It’s a privilege to be able to deliver this unexpected break to all KitKat lovers following the amazing stir Ruby caused last year, and we’re looking forward to seeing all the reactions from our fans as they get a taste of this unique gem.”
The ‘It’ chocolate, KitKat Ruby ($2), is available at Woolworths stores nationally from 1 May, for a limited time only.
