Police are appealing for witnesses after two men robbed an EzyMart convenience store in Bondi Junction early Wednesday morning.
Two men, described as being Caucasian, aged between 18-20 years and one with striking blue eyes, entered the store just before 3am, armed with large knives.
They threatened the attendant before taking a sum of cash and feeling east along Oxford St. Police believe the men had been casing the area before the robbery and Dectective Inspector, Eastern Suburbs Police Area Command Gretchen Atkins said the level of threat in the robbery was particularly concerning.
“It’s completely out of character for the area, for anything we’ve seen in this area at all. Bondi Junction is not a place we’d be expecting this.”
“We believe they were potentially casing the area before they went in. Bondi Junction is busy any time of the day or night, there are often people around. Part of our appeal for witnesses is that hopefully someone has seen two males hanging around this area before or after this incident.”
The attendent was not injured in the robbery. Police are urging anyone who may have information on the men to contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
