Viva Energy and its wholly owned subsidiary Liberty Oil Australia have announced a three-year sponsorship of the Healthy Heads in Trucks and Sheds Foundation (HHTS).
HHTS exists to promote the prevention and understanding of mental health issues that exist across the road transport and logistics industries in Australia.
Its three main objectives are to increase the number of people trained in mental health at transport and logistics facilities, to standardise policies and regulation at transport and logistics facilities, and to help individuals be healthier from a diet and mental health perspective.
Liberty has around 100 drivers in 22 depots in rural/remote communities, while Viva Energy engages around 150 refuellers at major airports around Australia. Viva Energy’s supply chain works with a range of transport suppliers encompassing more than 400 drivers and support staff.
Through the sponsorship, the HHTS will work to provide a best-practice approach to building a psychologically safe industry, which aligns well with the needs of Liberty and Viva Energy.
The primary objective of the Liberty and Viva Energy partnership with HHTS is to provide national access to resources that support mental health and wellbeing of the Liberty driver community and Viva Energy terminal communities and indirectly to suppliers.
Jennifer Gray, CEO, Liberty, said she is delighted the company is able to support a program that provides a tailored approach for the needs of the transport and logistics sector.
“We believe that industry tools will have greater acceptance with the driver community and that opens the door to better understanding and communication,” Gray said.
Vince Neville, General Manager of Distribution Supply Chain, Viva Energy, said the program promises to bring critical support to drivers and support staff.
“This sponsorship ties closely with our company vision to help people reach their destination which is achieved through our people and our business operations,” he said.
