Melbourne-based Jaunt Motors, a startup converting Land Rovers into Electric Vehicles (EVs), is set to become part of the world’s largest EV conversion companies as it merges with Zero EV to create a new company called Fellten.
Welsh for lightning, the newly created Fellten will strike out as the world’s leading electric conversion systems manufacturer with a presence in Australia, the UK and North America.
Dave Budge, Jaunt Motors Co-founder and CEO, now Chief Design Officer of Fellten, says their work is critical to working toward net zero emissions.
“Every vehicle on the road will need to be electric by 2050 for us to achieve net zero emissions and classic car owners will want their vehicle to be electric much sooner,” says Budge.
“With production facilities on three continents, industry-leading technology and development capabilities, Fellten is ready to meet those needs for consumers and the automotive industry.”
The merger was officially unveiled at the Specialty Equipment Market Association (SEMA) show in Las Vegas this week, and the company is already expanding to meet predicted exponential demand worldwide.
Fellten has engineered systems for various classic brands and models, starting with Porsche 911s, Classic Minis, and Land Rover Series and Defenders, with more electrification solutions for classic brands and models in the works.
Chris Hazell, Zero EV Co-founder and CEO, and now CEO of Fellten, says the launch has been a long time coming, and both parties couldn’t be happier with the outcome.
“We are delighted to launch Fellten, it’s the culmination of years of work from two teams working on other sides of the world, coming together with the shared ambition in shaping the future of electric vehicles,” he says.
“The merging of our two companies into the singular Fellten will provide classic vehicle customers with any level of electrification support, and provide automotive experts, mechanics and electric vehicle converters with the technology, tools and training to be a part of the growing global demand for electrification,” says Hazell.
Since the merger, Fellten is now the only company globally with ISO compliance in quality, environmental and health and safety management as well as the ability to manufacturing at scale, allowing them to successfully deliver EV conversion solutions across the Asia Pacific, UK, North America and most of Europe.
Going forward, Fellten will officially open its US facility early in 2023 and will continue to expand both production and training across Australia and the UK.
