Kimberly-Clark’s new 23,000 sqm distribution centre (DC) in Victoria will double the manufacturer’s storage capacity.
The new DC is now the second largest in Kimberly-Clark’s Australian network and will be able to annually increase outbound deliveries of its brands – Kleenex, Huggies, Poise, Depend, U by Kotex, and VIVA – by 30 per cent.
Belinda Driscoll, Managing Director at Kimberly-Clark Australia, said with a sharp focus on sustainability and efficiency, the facility will enable them to better respond to the always on demands of Aussie shoppers while at the same time reducing their carbon footprint.
“The opening of our new distribution centre in Victoria not only underscores Kimberly-Clark Australia’s pursuit of operational excellence, but also reaffirms our unwavering commitment to our customers and consumers, local manufacturing, and the planet.”
The new facility, which is located in Dexus’ 3023 Industrial Estate in Ravenhall, Victoria, optimises road transport routes by taking 700 trucks off the roads annually and will reduce its carbon emissions by more than 880 tonnes.
In further sustainability measures, solar panels are installed on the roof, a fleet of electric forklifts will be used, and the addition of electric car charging stations will add to the reduction in the company’s carbon footprint.
“We remain committed to making further investments that will enhance our supply chain in the years to come,” said Driscoll.
