QSR Oliver’s has launched a new conversational, unscripted AI named Ollie, which it will use for drive-thru orders at its Pheasant’s Nest site.
Partnering with AI software company Sodaclick, Ollie offers a fully contextual, two-way interaction and is integrated with food software Prepit, so is able to list and recommend products and answer questions about ingredients, allergens, and dietary preferences.
Natalie Sharpe, CEO of Oliver’s, said they are thrilled to launch this new innovation which will also enable the Oliver’s team to focus on creating nourishing healthy wholefoods.
“Like most industries, QSRs have been impacted by the global labour shortage. At Oliver’s we want to give our customers the best possible experience wherever they choose to order and our newest team member, Ollie helps us do this at the drive-thru. Come and say hello, or if you’d prefer to speak with a member of staff when ordering our signature egg wrap your bacon and egg roll, simply ask.”
Oliver’s emphasises that Ollie is not a replacement for human service, simply an assistant to team members, and customers can ask to speak to a human should they wish.
Ibrahim Jan, CEO of Sodaclick, said it has been a momentous journey to integrate Australia’s first drive-thru conversational AI assistant for Oliver’s.
“Customers placing their orders might be surprised that Ollie is actually an AI, since Ollie not only delights but delivers exceptional customer service. The AI has been trained extensively to be non-linear in its interactions and is completely unscripted, distinguishing itself from other AI assistant ordering models, giving customers a friendly, natural and human-like conversation.
“Our aim is to use technology in a seamless manner that enhances the overall customer experience and streamlines operations for staff.”
Ollie can display detailed menu information, including allergens to assist customers in making informed decisions based on their dietary needs, before a member of staff is alerted.
Expansion plans for Ollie are already in the works, with the AI server expected to be rolled out at in-store kiosks.
