Drakes has announced the acquisition of IGA Mount Compass, marking its 68th store across South Australia and Queensland.
IGA Mount Compass has served as a cornerstone of the local community for over 24 years, upheld by three generations of the previous owner’s family. Drakes will continue to employ the current team, including members of the owner’s family, to ensure the stores strong community ties.
Melita Hicks, Owner of IGA Mount Compass, said the Hicks family would like to thank the community for their amazing support over the last 24 years.
“Without your backing and encouragement, we could not have made our store what it is today. We have been indebted to our staff for their hard work and dedication over the years and wish them all the best. We thank Drakes for retaining our wonderful team and wish them every success for the future ahead.”
Under Drakes’ ownership, customers can expect an expanded range of products tailored to meet local preferences, including a wide selection of quality meats and fresh produce, supplied directly from Drakes Distribution Centre in Edinburgh.
Roger Drake, Managing Director of Drakes, recognised the work that the Hicks family has done in building a much-loved store.
“I know that we have big shoes to fill as the Hicks family has done an incredible job; but we will continue to deliver on customer service and hope to exceed customers’ expectations.”
