Coca-Cola trials new AI vending machine in Sydney

Coca-Cola in Australia and Coca-Cola Europacific Partners (CCEP) are trialling Coke&Go, a new AI vending concept, at Sydney Airport.

The Coke&Go coolers, which are being trialled at Sydney Airport’s T2 Domestic terminal, allow consumers to use their phone to scan a QR code or tap a credit card to unlock the fridge and choose a beverage. Products are recognised using image recognition technology, and consumers seamlessly complete their purchases via their linked payment methods.

David McKenna, General Manager of Vending at CCEP Australia, said Coke&Go represents a leap forward for the vending industry.

“Our ambition at CCEP is to be at the forefront of innovation, including in vending, where we’re always looking at alternatives that enhance convenience and improve the shopping experience for today’s digitally savvy consumer. Coke&Go rethinks vending by using the latest technology to deliver a simple, seamless and unique self-service experience where consumers are able to hand-pick their chosen product off the fridge shelf.”

Emma de Szoeke, General Manager Retail Performance and Growth at Sydney Airport, said this new service is all about harnessing technology to enhance their passenger’s experience and make their journey as smooth as possible.

“We’re excited to introduce Coke&Go at our T2 Domestic terminal, offering passengers a seamless and convenient way to grab and enjoy a range of refreshing drinks as they travel through Australia’s busiest airport terminal.”
