Registrations for the Australian Association of Convenience Stores (AACS) 2024 Peter Jowett Convenience Retail Award are now open.
The AACS PJ Award is a unique chance for future leaders of the industry to challenge others in Australia on thinking about the opportunities for the convenience industry, as well as receive a prize valued at $20,000.
Theo Foukkare, CEO of AACS, said the Peter Jowett Convenience Retail Award is held in the highest regard by the industry as an avenue to showcase future leaders who apply their innovative and creative thinking to each year’s topic.
“Peter Jowett was an industry champion who led the way in uncovering young future leaders within the industry. His passion and commitment in this area ultimately led to the development of this prestigious award many years ago, and each year that passes on reminds us of his legacy.”
This year’s topic is: “Envisioning the future: How will AI revolutionise convenience retailers to enhance customer convenience and operational efficiency?”
The award is open to all AACS Retailer and Supplier members under the age of 36. Applicants don’t need to work directly in the convenience channel, they can be from another part of the company.
“The idea generation from all contestants each year surpasses all expectations, and the quality of future leaders being showcased is of the very highest level.”
Participants are to submit a written paper of no more than 4000 words or a PowerPoint presentation of 10 slides, along with a one-page biography, with registrations closing on 2 February 2024.
The judges will select one retailer and one supplier winner who will each receive a ticket to attend the AACS 2024 International Study Tour, valued at $20,000. Winners will be announced on 21 March 2024 and will present at the AACS Connect 24 Summit on 21 March 2024.
“I urge all AACS supplier and retailer members that qualify to register for the award, allowing you to showcase thought-provoking ideas and talent.
“Along with the judges and all members, we look forward to reviewing all applications and hearing from the finalists in March 2024 at the AACS Connect 24 Summit and Awards event in Sydney,” said Foukkare.
