Students across New South Wales, Queensland, and South Australia are now able to enter for the chance to play in the 2023 Ampol Little Origin series.
Returning for its third year, the Ampol Little Origin series sees Year five and six students from ten schools win the chance to take to the field at half-time throughout the NRL Ampol State of Origin and Women’s State of Origin series.
Jenny O’Regan, Chief Brand Officer at Ampol, said they’re excited to bring the series back for its third year.
“We are also proud to provide $50,000 in grants to support the participating schools provide their students with access to the best sports programs to support health and wellbeing out of the classroom.”
Sam Thaiday, NRL legend and Ampol Little Origin series ambassador, will help the winning schools prepare by hosting special training sessions alongside other icons of the game.
“Running on to the field and playing in front of a huge crowd is an exhilarating feeling that these students will experience with their peers and remember for life.
“Grassroots Rugby League is not only so important to the growth of our game, but it also plays a huge role in the local community, and I am so proud to partner with Ampol Little Origin to help support our Rugby League community and develop the future generation of Rugby League players.”
Jaymes Boland-Rudder, Executive General Manager – Partnerships of the NRL, said they look forward to watching the students participate at half-time.
“The Ampol Little Origin series has quickly become a staple of the Ampol State of Origin series and we are thrilled to see it return again in 2023 as Ampol continues to develop and support players at the grassroots level.”
Schools that are amongst the first 50 sign up for the 2023 Ampol Little Origin series early will be rewarded with an NRL prize pack complete with balls, cones, a coach’s pack, and more.
Anyone can apply on behalf of their school, with applications closing on Thursday, April 6.
