Ampol unveils six new AmpCharge EV charging bays

Ampol has opened six new AmpCharge EV charging bays in Zetland, NSW, the first bays outside of its retail convenience network.

Installed at East Village Shopping Centre, the bays are part of a partnership with Mirvac and are the beginning of Ampol’s planned rollout to third-party portfolio sites to provide customers with greater access to best-in-class EV charging infrastructure at convenient locations across Australia.

Brent Merrick, Executive General Manager, Commercial Fuels and Energy at Ampol, said as their customers look to alternative mobility technologies, they are well placed to support them on their journeys.

“The launch of our first ‘at-destination’ AmpCharge EV chargers at East Village is part of our ongoing commitment to supporting customers through the energy transition.

“Having just unveiled our 100th AmpCharge public charger bay, we recognise our electric vehicle charging ecosystem has the potential to play a critical role in supporting customers reduce their transport emissions.”

Alison Flemming, General Manager of Retail at Mirvac, said the installation of the first AmpCharge EV charging bays at East Village Shopping Centre in Zetland is a huge milestone for the partnership.

“Since first installing charging capabilities in our retail centres over seven years ago, EV sales have continued to grow across Australia with more consumers embracing a sustainable future. As a result, we have seen a significant rise in the usage of our charging stations with a 60 per cent increase in customer utilisation in the past year and charging bays often at capacity.

“We believe it’s our responsibility to provide our customers with convenient access to fast and reliable EV charging services across our retail portfolio and we are thrilled to see the first AmpCharge EV charging bays up and running at East Village in Sydney. The AmpCharge bays will offer 150kw super charging services providing our customers with greater access to best-in-class EV charging infrastructure with six new electric car bays on offer for our customers.”
