Having successfully launched into the Australian market last year, Califia Farms – one of the best-selling U.S. plant-based milk and dairy-free cold brew coffee brands – is introducing three new delicious summer beverages into Woolworths across Victoria.
According to combined data from the major supermarkets in Australia, the plant-based beverage category grew by over 35% vs the yearly average, with Califia Farms contributing nearly 40% overall sales growth – reinforcing the trend that Australians are increasingly switching to a plant-based diet and looking to Califia Farms for their innovative and delicious products.
As Australians become increasingly health conscious, data continues to show consumers are looking to cut down or remove sugar from their diets. Findings from The NPD Group have further highlighted that 53% of teens and adults say they are trying to reduce their sugar intake.
Since 2014, Califia Farms have made a conscious effort to reduce the sugar content across its portfolio by 57% by lowering sugar in existing products and offering more unsweetened products. Califia Farms Go Coconuts, Chocolate Coconut Almond Blend and Mocha Cold Brew Coffee bottle all the delicious taste without the unwanted sugar, calories and ingredients.
“Today’s health-conscious consumers increasingly look for plant-based products that are made with both purpose and personality. As consumers increasingly voice for lower sugar in the food and beverages they consume, Califia Farms has not only met, but exceeded that demand – while continually innovating on great taste, ” said Greg Steltenpohl, co-founder and CEO of Califia Farms. The following products will join a range of almond milks and Ready-to-Drink (RTD) Cold Brew Coffees that are already available in Australia at Coles and Woolworths:
Go Coconuts (750mL): Feel refreshed this summer with this blend of coconut cream and coconut water, made with no added sugar (only 0.5g). This carefully crafted plant milk has a smooth, mild taste and perfectly pairs with your summer cold brew coffee and can be used in a wide assortment of recipes.
Chocolate Coconut Almond Blend (750mL): With only 4.2g of sugar per 100 mL this plant-based blend boasts significantly less sugar than traditional chocolate dairy milk and other milk alternatives on-shelf. A good source of calcium, it’s made with real coconut cream, cocoa and California almonds, making it both delicious and creamy. Serve it hot or cold and use it in recipes, this product is the perfect beverage for everyone, especially families who are looking for a healthier sweet treat option.
The current range of almond milks, Unsweetened Almond Milk (750mL) and Unsweetened Vanilla Almond Milk (750mL) have no added sugar, and a smooth and creamy texture. These beverages can be consumed on their own, or used in recipes such as smoothies, soups, muesli and more.
Mocha Cold Brew Coffee (750mL): This velvety, dairy free cold brew coffee is blended with cocoa powder, a dash of sea salt and Califia Farms artisanally-made creamy almond milk. All that deliciousness with only 4.9g of sugar per 100mL.
Califia’s Cold Brew Coffees are smooth, delicious and blended with its signature almond milk. Made from 100% Arabica beans sourced via Direct Trade, Califia uses a light-Scandinavian-style roast and a custom cold brew process to impart a milder taste. The two RTD products in Australia have 70% less sugar than traditional iced coffees brands currently found on shelf:
XX Espresso Cold Brew Coffee (750ml): With 4.2g of sugar and 150 mg of caffeine per 100ml, feel revived with a delicious double dose of caffeine blended with almond milk.
Mocha Noir Cold Brew Coffee (310ml): This delightful mix of cold brew, double dark chocolate, and creamy, smooth almond milk has 3.7g of sugar and 105mg of caffeine per 100ml.
