Chevron Australia has pledged an additional $2.3 million to fund resilience and compassion-building programs for mental health organisation zero2hero.
As part of its role as an Empowerment Partner, Chevron aims to support zero2hero in reaching 38,000 young people across Perth and the Pilbara over the next three years. The programs will focus on raising mental health awareness and suicide prevention, addressing critical issues affecting youth in Western Australia.
Ashlee Harrison, CEO of zero2hero, expressed gratitude for the ongoing partnership, highlighting the transformative impact Chevron’s support has had.
“Simply put, without this support, thousands of young people would not benefit from our mental health and wellbeing programs. The rates of youth mental health and suicide are at crisis levels. Unless we invest in prevention, we will not see this shift.”
Wes Johnson, General Manager of Strategy, Planning, and Commercial at Chevron Australia, emphasised the company’s commitment to fostering positive mental health outcomes for young people.
“We are delighted to continue to support the important work of zero2hero, engaging and empowering young people across Perth and regional WA to become mental health heroes.”
He also praised the programs for equipping participants with essential tools and knowledge.
“zero2hero programs engage tens of thousands of young people, providing them with the knowledge and tools to positively manage and maintain their mental health and support others to do the same.”
The renewed funding will enable zero2hero to continue its vital mission of building resilience among young people, fostering a brighter future for communities in Perth and the Pilbara.
