Michaela Webster, the Chief Operating Officer of South Australia’s privately-owned On The Run (OTR) convenience store chain, was awarded the Coporate and Private Award at the 21st annual Telstra South Australia Business Women’s Awards at the Adelaide Oval on Tuesday 13 October.
OTR is part of the Peregrine Corporation, which was formed with the purchase of a single service station at Woodville Park in South Australia in 1984. The Peregrine Corporation now has a unique and diversified convenience business that includes a number different brands under the OTR umbrella. Depending on the site, OTR convenience stores offer everything from supermarket items, coffee and fuel through to famous fast food brands like Subway, Hungry Jacks, and Oportos, 24 hours a day, seven days a week.
Ms Webster has been with the company for over 10 years and has seen the business grow from 25 sites to over 100 in that time. OTR now boasts 2000 employees with 46 million customer transactions every year. Ms Webster is accountable for operational results and managing the wider team to meet budgets. The company has also trained 10,000 people in SA over the past decade, as part of an accredited traineeship process with a training centre that has 17 recruiters and trainers.
Along with the night’s other winners, Ms Webster will now go on to the national finals to be held in Melbourne on Wednesday 18 November.
