Ferrero Australia will be trialling 100 per cent recyclable Kinder Bueno point-of-sale displays in retail stores around Australia from August.
The trial will include 3,000 new dumpbins featuring a biodegradable varnish, and will lead to saving more than 10,000sqm of plastic. The move will be the first trial of 100 per cent recyclable displays by Ferrero Australia and the initiative reflects Ferrero’s sustainability strategy to reduce the company’s carbon footprint by 2030.
Ferrero has developed this trial in partnership with point-of-sale supplier Think Display, which is developing its own in-house initiatives to reduce waste and landfill.
Think Display currently has eco-friendly policies such as carbon neutral shipping and utilises soy-based inks in display materials.
The trial is just one of a number of initiatives as Ferrero moves towards 100 per cent recyclable displays. Recyclable bamboo moulded clips are currently being tested to replace plastic corr-a-clips in Nutella towers to further reduce plastic going to landfill.
Ferrero’s commitment to sustainability has been recognised locally with Ferrero named as a finalist for the Business Leadership Award at the NSW Green Globe Environment awards in 2019.
