Kaufland Australia has begun construction on its $255 million distribution centre in Victoria.
InsideFMCG reported the facility will be 117,000+ square metres and will be one of the largest in the country.
The facility will incorporate 130 loading docks as well as the latest in technological automation, sustainability, and efficiency.
Kaufland Australia director Maximilian Wiedmann said: “Australia is one of the fastest growing regions in the world, and we are excited to grow with it”.
“Our Distribution Centre will be the beating heart of our supply chain and will ensure we provide an uncompromising quality food shop for our customers,” Mr Wiedmann said.
“We would like to thank everyone who has helped us achieve this exciting milestone. To Hume City Council, to our construction partner, Vaughan, and to Merrifield Business Park, we are very grateful and proud to be standing alongside you today.”
Kaufland received approval for its first three stores in Victoria in March, and has since recieved approval for a further two more in South Australia.
