German supermarket Kaufland is reportedly closing in on a $20 million Bunnings warehouse site as it prepares for its Australian launch.
Kaufland has already secured building sites in Melbourne and Adelaide, The Daily Mail UK reported.
It is believed that an entry into the Australian market, could rival Aldi which has been in Australia since 2001.
The Daily Telegraph reported in late 2017 that Kaufland could expect a first year of projected sales up to half a billion dollars.
The company is reportedly also searching for a location to purchase in Sydney.
There is currently no date set for an official Australian opening.
