Four West Australian children have each designed a donation card to sell at Coles Supermarkets across WA to raise funds for Telethon.
The cards designed by the children, aged between five and eight years old, will sell for $2 and $5, with all proceeds going directly to Telethon to assist their 97 benefirary organisations to make a difference to sick, vulnerable, and disadvantaged children in WA.
Pat Zanetti, State General Manager at Coles, said he was thrilled Coles would again be partnering with Telethon and called on customers to dig deep where they can.
“Telethon is close to the hearts of West Australians, and we are incredibly proud to be supporting this year’s appeal by raising funds and awareness of the charities it provides support for.
“This year’s card designs created by the children are incredible. We hope that our customers will support this great cause by purchasing a donation card to help us make a difference to sick children in WA.”
Leo, who’s aged seven and lives with muscular dystrophy, designed a card that features a jersey, basketballs, shooting stars, and information about Rebound WA, an organisation that provides opportunities for children with a physical disability to participate in sport and recreational programs tailored to their abilities.
Ava, aged eight years and living with cystic fibrosis, designed a card that features Cystic Fibrosis WA, a charity offering support and education programs to families in the WA community and helping improve access to critical services for children living with cystic fibrosis.
Nazeem, who is aged five and has cerebral palsy, has designed a card featuring the Healthy Strides Foundation where he receives intensive physical therapy to improve functional mobility independence and motor skills.
The fourth card designed by five-year-old Anisha, who has spinal muscular atrophy, also features Healthy Strides, which helps her focus on what she can do and forget about what she cannot.
In addition to the donation cards, Coles will sell 5,000 Fat Cat dolls. Telethon donation cards are available at stores across WA until Sunday 23 October, and Fat Cat dolls until stocks last.
