Lion Dairy & Drinks (Lion) has announced that its 2019 Lion Dairy Pride and Orchard Pride Landcare grant applications are now open.
The grants are for its dairy and orange suppliers across the country.
“Building on the success of last year’s inaugural Lion Orchard Pride Landcare Grants program, we will once again be extending an invitation to our orange growers to apply,” Lion Dairy & Drinks’ Managing Director Kathy Karabatsas said.
Kathy said Lion Dairy & Drinks had been a long-time partner with Landcare Australia and was proud to see fantastic results year on year.
“The Lion Landcare grants programs are designed to help our dairy farmers and orange growers develop more sustainable practices on their farms, increase business efficiencies, lower their operating costs and secure the long-term sustainability for their business,” Kathy said.
Projects must address two priority funding areas – improving bio-diversity and land management and improving energy efficiency.
Kathy said that this year all applicants were encouraged to place a key focus on water efficiency. Applications close on 1 April and Grants of $10,000 each are expected to be awarded to eight dairy farmers and two fruit growers.
“The program is one of the many initiatives we have put in place to create a more sustainable business across our agricultural supply chains,” Kathy said.
