In Northern NSW a unique store proudly claims the title of the longest continually running grocery store in Australia. SPAR Maclean has seen many changes made to the store over the years, but the last six months have seen the biggest so far with a significant investment culminating in a re-launch of the newly renovated store this month.
Travelling all the way from Amsterdam, Dr Gordon Campbell, CEO of SPAR International, will attend the event on Saturday 28 February.
SPAR Maclean won the 2014 SPAR Customer Service Excellence Award, and definitely goes above and beyond all expectations to provide a superb shopping experience for their customers. With the slogan “We pack, We carry, We care” emblazoned on the front of the store, the team really live and breathe this motto.
The store is owned by Bob and Judith Little and is managed by Janelle McLachlan who, together with their staff, are committed to providing an outstanding shopping experience for their customers.
The last major renovations at SPAR Maclean were carried out 15 years ago. Since that time there has been ongoing upgrading of equipment such as refrigeration, point of sale and back office systems. However this renovation provides a larger shopping area and the addition of many new products.
The combination of SPAR Maclean’s long history and its new offer will see the longest continuing running grocery store continue to thrive.
As Mr Little said “We are excited to be able to show glimpses of our heritage in our store, particularly as we have been doing groceries long before Coles and Woolworths were even thought of! We can’t wait to celebrate the completion of this refurbishment with our valued customers and industry colleagues.”
SPAR Maclean invites everyone to share in the store’s celebration on Saturday 28 February at 10am at 4 River St, Maclean.
I first visited this store in 1959 as a youngster . to this day a feeling of nostalgia
wafts over me every time I visit this store when I’m in Maclean.
