Metcash has entered a long-term agreement to supply nearly 1,000 products to Ampol Australia’s 600 company-owned Foodary stores nationwide.
Under the agreement, Metcash will be supplying products across all ambient categories including confectionery, selected drink ranges, chips, groceries, health and beauty, pet care, and general merchandise.
Rob Vallis, Head of Partnerships & Merchandise (Campbells & Convenience) at Metcash, said there are a number of benefits for both parties.
“Metcash will benefit from the additional volume which will deliver efficiency benefits through its extensive national DC network, and Ampol Foodary will benefit from Metcash’s competitive pricing, broad product range, supply chain expertise and customer support.”
Metcash will leverage its existing supply chain infrastructure, including its recently opened distribution centre in Truganina, Victoria. Vallis highlighted the company’s logistics capabilities, stating, “Metcash can pick, pack, and deliver nationally in all formats, from single units to full pallets, across all temp zones – ambient, chilled, and frozen.”

Discussions are ongoing regarding the potential introduction of Metcash’s private-label brands, Community Co and Black & Gold, into Ampol stores.
“We are working closely with Ampol Australia to review private label options and formats,” Vallis said.
Vallis emphasised Metcash’s role as a leading wholesale partner in the convenience sector. “Metcash is the wholesale partner of choice to the convenience channel, offering a national, comprehensive, low-cost, efficient, and reliable service,” he said.
Metcash’s product range extends beyond food and grocery items to include health and beauty, general merchandise, tobacco, and alcohol. The company also offers electronic data interchange (EDI) capability, an online ordering portal, and a local customer service team to streamline operations for its retail partners.
