The Australian Olympic Committee has announced that Mondelēz International has signed as the Official Chocolate, Candy, Biscuits and Spreads Partner of the Australian Olympic Team.
The Olympic Games brings together billions of people to celebrate moments that unite them as one global family. Through this partnership, Mondelēz will provide consumers with a connection to Australian athletes as they embark on a journey to achieve their dreams at Rio 2016, the AOC said.
Mondelēz will be activating the partnership through its leading brands including Cadbury, The Natural Confectionary Company, Oreo, Ritz, Vegemite and Kraft Peanut Butter.
“We’re absolutely thrilled to support the Australian Olympic Team – as a country and as a company,” said Amanda Banfield, managing director Australia & New Zealand, Mondelēz International.
“Our brands bring joy to millions of Australians every single day and we are looking forward to our exciting partnership and celebrating our Australian Olympians competing at this iconic sporting event.
“The partnership announcement comes at an exciting time for the AOC, having just celebrated one year to go until Rio 2016 and launching a new modernised brand, that embodies the energy and passion of our athletes. The strength of one symbol now unites our team, our fans and our sponsors as part of the Olympic family.”
Fiona de Jong, chief executive of the AOC, said: “The Australian Olympic Committee relies on the generosity of corporate Australia to send our Australian Olympic Team to Rio 2016. In this partnership we have a very real, collaborative opportunity to make Olympic dreams come true for our young and talented Australian athletes, and help bring joy to their accomplishments.
“Together with Mondelēz we invite all Australians to share in the joy of the Australian Olympic Team as we support our athletes on the Road to Rio.”
Mondelēz will launch a fully integrated campaign in January that will run through to the closing ceremony in Rio at the end of August.
