After being placed into voluntary administration on 20 January, the future of staff at Broadmeadows-based manufacturer Betta Foods has been uncertain. Betta employed about 180 people and had annual revenue of up to $40 million. Yesterday, 39 staff (28 factory-based and 11 administration staff) officially lost their jobs.
Administrator, Cor Cordis has said that it was expecting formal offers by the end of this week and it had received more than 26 expressions of interest since its appointment on 20 January. Managing partner at Cor Cordis, Bruno Secatore said, “The signs are encouraging that there is a future for Betta Foods.” At this stage it appears likely the business be sold as a going concern.
