Kids in Victoria will finally get to share in the Ooshies craze, with Woolworths announcing it will begin stocking the collectables this week.
The Disney+ Ooshies collection, a range of collectable thumb-sized figurines based on characters from Disney films, have been stocked in all Woolworths stores, bar the lockdown affected state, since August 26.
The craze is hugely popular among pre and primary school aged children, who collect and swap the figures. Now, from Wednesday, the figures will also be available to all in-store and online Victorian shoppers who spend more than $30 in one transaction. The rollout had been delayed as the retailer worked to secure worker and customer safety during the state’s second COVID-19 wave.
Woolworths Chief Marketing Officer Andrew Hicks, said he had heard Victorian shoppers’ calls for the figures and, now the retailer was better positioned to operate with optimal safety measures, he was pleased to share them with the state.
“Victorians have had an incredibly challenging year and we hope this collection helps bring some well deserved excitement and magic to their shop. I also want to thank our Victorian customers for their patience and understanding with the delay. The safety of our customers and team members is our number one priority through COVID-19,” he said.
This range includes 36 fan favourites and spans movie franchises such as Marvel and Star Wars through to beloved Pixar epics such as Toy Story and includes both silver, gold, colour changing, glow in the dark and glitter editions. As well as rare Ooshies, such as the furry Thor and The Child Disney +.
Woolworths has also introduced a recycling program through TerraCycle to re-purpose preloved Ooshies, by turning them into plastic pellets to be used in outdoor furniture.
