Following a ‘soft’ launch in December 2015, Pangkarra Foods range of four pulse and lentil ready-to-eat snacks were officially launched in March this year and on November 25, received recognition as the Foodland SA New Product for companies with 15 or less employees at the South Australian Food Industry Awards.
Pankgarra Foods manager Katherine Maitland told C&I Week the company is delighted with the recognition received at the South Australian Food Industry Awards.
“Our snack range has been a huge success, we were pleasantly surprised at the interest in and uptake of sales. There’s nothing really comparable on the market; our product is traceable from product to plate and being nut-free, gluten-free, high protein, ready to eat and lower in fat than most chips it is proving very popular for on-the-run snacking.
“If you are looking for a nut, chip or lolly alternative, or something healthier for the kids, especially on a car trip, our range of snacks make a great grab and go choice. They are a healthy snack, ready to eat, and made from local South Australian product,” Ms Maitland said.
Currently available Australia-wide at retailers including Foodlands and IGA, Pangkarra Foods are now looking to expand their product distribution into petrol and convenience channels.
The range is stocked by distributors in each state or can be ordered direct.
