PepsiCo Australia has today announced it will donate $480,000 to food charity Foodbank Australia to help those financially impacted by COVID-19.
It forms part of their (AUD) $72 million in global donations to provide assistance to help vulnerable communities through the crisis and will be made through their The PepsiCo Foundation and will help Foodbank provide close to one million meals.
Foodbank is experiencing a huge increase in demand for their services. Already they have had a 50 per cent jump in requests for help, up from the already one in five Australians who seek their services each year under average circumstances. The charity normally assist 815,000 people each month, at the moment they are helping 1.2 million people.
A further (NZD) $330,000 will be donated to the New Zealand Salvation Army Foodbank for similar initiatives.
The beverage company has also chipped in $100,000 in PepsiCo products for frontline worked, including health workers, providing some much needed sustenance across Smith’s, Doritos, Sunbites, Red Rock Deli, Gatorade and G-Active brands.
PepsiCo Australia has also donated $100,000 worth of PepsiCo products to Frontliners, to go into kits for our incredible health workers across Australia during this crisis. Products include Smith’s, Doritos, Sunbites and Red Rock Deli snacks and Gatorade and G-Active beverages.
PepsiCo ANZ CEO Danny Celoni said he was proud to offer support to frontline workers and those hardest hit by the virus.
“Food is at the heart of what we do at PepsiCo. We have always been great admirers of the amazing work Foodbank Australia and the New Zealand Salvation Army Foodbank do within their local communities, and have been proud to be able to support them over the years” Mr Celoni said.
“2020 has been a particularly difficult year for many Australians with drought, bushfires and now COVID-19. I am incredibly proud that we have been able to support our partners Foodbank Australia and the New Zealand Salvation Army Foodbank and provide nutritious meals to provide support to communities across Australia during this difficult time.”
