PepsiCo Australia is leading the way for the food and drink industry with its commitment to workplace gender equality recognised for the third year running.
The company has been awarded the Workplace Gender Equality Agency ‘Employer of Choice for Gender Equality’ citation, placing it in the top 100 organisations in Australia that meet the stringent criteria for best practice in promoting gender equality. PepsiCo is the only FMCG company on the 2016 citation list.
This recognises PepsiCo’s ongoing commitment and effort to workplace gender equality, which the company encourages by offering work life quality and flexibility in the workplace; supporting women at all levels of the organisation to progress into more senior positions; and ensuring pay equity within the business.
PepsiCo Australia & New Zealand CEO Robbert Rietbroek said the company recognises the importance of creating a diverse and inclusive workforce where both men and woman can thrive and was delighted to have received recognition for the third year in a row.
“When it comes to supporting female talent we have a strong track record, with over 40 per cent of senior roles across the business filled by women and almost half of our ANZ executive leadership team are female. We value and actively promote flexibility and work life quality across the organisation,” Mr Rietbroek said.
Mr Rietbroek became a Pay Equity Ambassador earlier this year, a move which signified both his personal commitment and Pepsico’s commitment to ensuring that PepsiCo people processes are free of bias to achieve equity and pro-actively manage pay equity.
PepsiCo employees discuss impact of gender diversity on their lives
Making an impact in our local community is one of the great possibilities of working for PepsiCo. I find it personally rewarding to work with our corporate partners to host annual events that inspire high-performing female students from disadvantaged backgrounds to pursue further education and career paths in STEM [an initiative that encourages young people interested in science, technology, engineering and math]. Ursula Phillips (chief information officer)
As a mum of three young children, I value the flexible working environment PepsiCo provides. The support from the organisation and my manager allows me to continue building my career whilst balancing the other priorities in my life. It means walking the talk and delivering on an agenda that ensures we not only focus on our results but also how we achieve them. Alexia Horley (sales director)
