Petrol stations targeted in Mornington Peninsula smash-and-grabs

Detectives are investigating a series of five smash-and-grab incidents at petrol stations across Mornington Peninsula early Tuesday morning.

Police were called on each occasion following reports of a group of up to four males, described as teenagers, had smashed their way into closed service stations on Tuesday 9 July between 12:10 and 1:05am.

The locations of the five targeted petrol stations were in Tyabb, Moorooduc, Red Hill, and Point Tootgarook.

It is believed the offenders used a hammer to smash the front windows of the stores to gain entry before they made off with cigarettes and prepaid mobile phones.

The offenders were wearing dark clothing and were last seen leaving the incidents in a grey Mazda sedan.
