Pie Face has been awarded 19 medals as part of the 33rd Official Great Aussie Pie Competition, with its newly launched Cheese and Bacon Roll taking out a gold medal.
With hundreds of bakers and pie makers from all over Australia competing in the most sought-after industry awards, this is the second year running that Pie Face has scooped the awards for its pies and rolls.
Bruce Feodoroff, CEO of Pie Face, said the humble meat pie is a true Aussie icon, and he is thrilled that Pie Face has been recognised for producing some of the country’s tastiest pies.
“Our mouth-watering pies and rolls are Aussie-owned and made using premium, quality ingredients such as free-range chicken and the most premium-grade meat we can source, and are freshly baked every day, in every location, making them the tastiest and freshest choice for Australian pie connoisseurs,” he adds.
The Official Great Aussie Meat Pie Competition was established in 1989, and entrants, who send in four samples of each pie to be judged, are assessed on the general appearance of the pie, the quality and flavour of the filling, and the quality and eating experience of the pastry. Each pie undergoes a blind taste test and is tasted by two or three judges.
The judging panel consists of industry representatives, qualified bakers, and pastry chefs, all of whom are experts in their field.
Pie Face’s pies and rolls are handcrafted from scratch using only premium, quality ingredients, and baked until they’re golden brown throughout the day in every location.
Combining premium ingredients with traditional French style light, flaky puff pastry, the Pie Face range includes Chunky Steak, Chicken and Mushroom and Steak Bacon and Cheese. Butter Chicken and Tandoori Vegetable are also popular flavours, along with vegetarian and vegan options.
