Pure Dairy has announced Andrew Wellington as its new Chief Commercial Officer, bringing over 20 years of experience to the growing company.
Wellington’s expertise in operational leadership, market expansion, and supply chain optimisation comes at a pivotal time as the business prepares to open its first $100 million production facility in Dandenong South, Victoria, in 2025.
The state-of-the-art plant is set to bolster Australia’s position in the global dairy market, offering innovative manufacturing solutions and reinforcing Pure Dairy’s reputation as a leader in custom end-to-end services for partners in 72 countries.
Adrian Josephson, Executive Chairman of Pure Dairy, said Wellington’s appointment reflects the company’s focus on leadership that can adapt to fast-changing international conditions.
“With real-time data from our global network, we need a leader who understands the big picture and can pivot effectively.”
Current market challenges, including the Red Sea shipping crisis and impending US-China tariff hikes, present significant opportunities for Australian dairy exports. Josephson expressed confidence in Wellington’s ability to navigate these complexities and leverage Pure Dairy’s strengths for future growth.
Wellington’s connection to the dairy industry runs deep, starting on his family’s northern Victorian dairy farm. He began his career driving milk tankers, completed a cadetship at Murray Goulburn, and studied Food Technology at Melbourne University.
Wellington’s career highlights include leadership roles at Open Country Dairy, where he led national plant integration and capital projects, and at Union Dairy Company, where he served as Chief Operating Officer, focusing on efficiency and innovation in large-scale operations.
Wellington said he is excited to contribute to Pure Dairy’s expansion at this transformative stage.
“Pure Dairy’s track record of capitalising on opportunities, supported by its international network, big data, and multi-disciplinary teams, is unparalleled,” he said. “The launch of our production facility next year is an exciting milestone, and I’m proud to be part of it.”
The new facility will feature advanced manufacturing technology, a research and development kitchen, logistics operations, and corporate offices, designed to meet the highest global standards. This addition will enable Pure Dairy to enhance its innovative solutions while continuing to provide unbiased, data-driven insights to partners worldwide.
Josephson described Wellington as an exceptional addition to the team, citing his lifelong connection to the dairy industry, technical expertise, and leadership capabilities.
“Andrew will play a key role in launching our production facility and expanding our global footprint in commodity trading and foodservice. This appointment reinforces our commitment to driving innovation and excellence in global dairy.”
