A new three-year partnership between Uncle Tobys and the Heart Foundation aims to raise awareness about the role rolled oats can play in supporting heart health in Australia.
The collaboration comes as around 30 per cent of Australians are living with high cholesterol, an established risk factor for heart disease, according to the Australian Bureau of Statistics.
Kimberley Finsten, Head of Uncle Tobys Oats Marketing, said together with the Heart Foundation, they’re working to make a positive impact to all Australians, one bowl at a time.
“In our collaboration with the Heart Foundation we want to inspire Australians to enjoy rolled oats as part of their regular routine to help manage cholesterol and support heart health.”
Uncle Tobys rolled oats naturally contain beta-glucan, a type of fibre that can help lower cholesterol when consumed as part of a diet low in saturated fat. Each 40g serve of Uncle Tobys Traditional Rolled Oats or Quick Rolled Oats contains 1.6g of beta-glucan. The recommended daily intake for cholesterol-lowering benefits is 3g.
David Lloyd, CEO of the Heart Foundation, said the partnership would support the organisation’s broader mission.
“By working together with Uncle Tobys, we can help more people in Australia manage their cholesterol and support heart health.”
The partnership will launch with Heart Week in early May, featuring heart-healthy recipes and on-pack information about beta-glucan. Products carrying the Heart Foundation logo will begin appearing on shelves in the second half of the year.
