TikTok sensation and the UK’s fastest-growing ice cream company, Little Moon, launches in Australia next month with three of its most popular flavours.
Exploding on social media in 2021, Little Moons is the brainchild of brother and sister duo Howard and Vivienne Wong. The brightly coloured, bite-sized desserts feature a centre of artisan gelato covered in a layer of mochi dough, a Japanese rice flour mix with a soft and chewy texture.
Growing up working in their parents’ Asian bakery, the siblings developed a love of quality food from a young age. Inspired by sweets samples on a trip to Japan, Howard and Vivienne started experimenting in 2010 with just an ice cream machine and their hard-earned childhood baking skills.
Originally intended as a dessert for high-end London restaurants like Nobu and Sushi Samba, the duo decided to launch into the retail market in 2015. Today, the company produces 180 million mochi balls annually and is sold in over 20 counties.
Howard Wong, co-founder of Little Moons, says he’s confident Australians will love his creations. “We know Australia is a nation of ice cream lovers, so we’re thrilled to…bring Little Moons mochi bites Down Under.
“Little Moons’ success comes down to its uniqueness. Brightly coloured, bite-sized treats that offer the familiarity of ice-cream with a soft and chewy layer of mochi. Perfect for any occasion, whether that’s a day time treat or a little after dinner indulgence, once you try them, I promise you’ll never look back,” he says.
Vegan Belgian Chocolate & Hazelnut and Vegan Tropical Passionfruit and Mango will be the first flavours available, with Honey Roasted Pistachio to follow shortly.
To celebrate the launch, the Little Moons team will be handing out their creations at Bondi Beach on 7 October and will be available for purchase from Woolworths outlets from October onwards.
