Weet-Bix receives NSW People’s Choice Blue Plaque

Sanitarium Health Food Company’s Weet-Bix has become the first product and company to receive an NSW Heritage Blue Plaque.

The NSW Department of Environment and Heritage announced the recognition today, highlighting Weet-Bix’s introduction to Australia as one of 16 people and events most influential in shaping the state.

Todd Saunders, Executive General Manager for Australia and New Zealand at Sanitarium, said the company was honoured by becoming the inaugural recipient of the People’s Choice Blue Plaque Award.

“Sanitarium is honoured to be named as both the first company and first product to receive a prestigious NSW Heritage Blue Plaque, and for that achievement to be topped with another first – named the inaugural recipient of the first People’s Choice Blue Plaque.”

The plaque will be installed at Sanitarium’s manufacturing site in Berkeley Vale, NSW, where Weet-Bix is produced alongside other Sanitarium products, including So Good and UP&GO.

Sanitarium, which has been producing Weet-Bix for nearly 97 years, credited its loyal consumers for the recognition.

“Aussie Kids truly are Weet-Bix kids, and we thank our loyal Weet-Bix consumers who have driven this campaign for Sanitarium to receive such a pivotal accolade for the ‘Introduction of Weet-Bix’ to Australia.

“It has been a privilege to share this achievement with our wider Sanitarium team today and also to thank them for the work they do to bring Weet-Bix to Australian breakfast tables across the country,” said Saunders.
