Woolworths has appointed its former CEO, Roger Corbett, as an advisor to the board.
Woolworths said Corbett, who will officially join on December 1, will advise the board on issues relating to the performance of the company and business improvement opportunities. Corbett was appointed Executive Director of Woolworths and MD of Big W in 1990, MD Retail from July 1997, and Group MD and CEO from January 1999 until September 2006.
“Roger Corbett is uniquely placed and eminently qualified to provide insight and advice to both the board and senior management at this particular time in Woolworths’ transformation. The board is delighted that Roger has made himself available and looks forward to working with him,” Woolworths Chairman, Gordon Cairns, said.
Corbett’s appointment follows the departure of non-executive director, Christine Cross. Last week, Woolworths confirmed its intentions to elect former CEO of Best&Less, Holly Kramer, as a non-executive director.
